The VRC7008E is a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) PCI Express (PCIe) add-in card designed for professional video surveillance applications. It features the Exar S7100 software configurable processor and performs H.264 encoding on eight channels of NTSC/PAL video at full 960H resolution and frame rate. As a result, security and surveillance professionals can achieve a 33% greater horizontal Field-Of-View (FOV) than that provided by typical D1 CCTV video cameras.
Extensive video preprocessing coupled with the power of the Exar Intelligent Encoder gives the VRC7008E pristine video quality while maintaining high compression levels. This results in a tremendous reduction in storage costs for surveillance installations. The S7100 programmable accelerator at the core of the Intelligent Encoder delivers multi-stream encoding of baseline, main and high-profile H.264 Advanced Video CODEC (AVC) video streams. In addition, the S7100 video processor drives H.264 Scalable Video CODEC (SVC) compression that enables flexible and efficient resizing and resampling of multi-stream surveillance video.
A high bandwidth PCIe interface provides connectivity to host systems. The card also supports eight channels of alarm I/O and an RS485 interface for remote camera control through an I/O header with an optional I/O card. The card provides a debug connector for UART and JTAG interfaces to facilitate hardware and software debugging.
The VRC7008E is a low profile PCIe short form factor card that enables easy integration with compact video surveillance equipment. The VRC7008E can also be configured with a standard height PCIe bracket for use in development systems or full height PC chassis.
